[YEAR 3] Film Idea Draft 3

Following on from my talk with Pooja, I have definitely decided I do not want to have the animation being about me but more inspired by what I do to create a story. But that leaves me with no character or real story now.

After talking with Neil he told me to obverse people, and find someone who interested me.
This then reminded me of a story that my mum told me about a woman on the bus she had met.
This woman always had matching handbags and shoes, and my mum loves having brightly coloured shoes. One day this woman comes up to my mum and asks, can I buy your shoes, they would match one of the handbags she owned.
This little story has inspired me to base my own film on this woman and her matching handbags and shoes.

The location would still be a bus stop, as this would contrast the colour character with her bags and shoes while the surroundings would be grungy and dark. This would also apply to the other people as well, they would be dress in dark suits and looks similar to each other.
The time of day I think should always be the morning, since this is when you have great about of people in school uniforms or suits going to travel at the same time I find.

A story that could go with this at the moment could be that the woman see's a young girl with a bag or shoes that she really wants and she is just desperate to get them for her collection.
I'm currently not certain on a direction for the story but I do really like this idea development.

[YEAR 3] Film Idea Draft 2

After the feedback on Thursdays lesson I decided to drop the music video idea,
because I should do a film that is for myself for my final year.

Today Pooja gave me the advice of looking at my life instead for the film,
having it more like animated documentary about how much time I spend on travelling.
The theme would be time. The basic idea at this point is that I calculate all the times I spend with my Family/Partner/Friends and how much time I spend travelling with these same people that I have never met in my life. I feel like I should know these people who I have spent 3 years travelling with but I know nothing about them.

I'm currently not sure how much I like this idea, I love the idea of time I think that is great but I just don't want to do an animation based around my life, it makes me uncomfortable letting so many people in on my thoughts.

[YEAR 3] Film Idea Draft 1 [Scribbles]

I have been trying to quickly get some visuals out to help me move the idea along.

Here I have written out the lyrics and drawn out some mini panels of what I visualise in my head when I'm thinking of the story with the song.

I also have some rough ideas of what could happen with the story.

Here I have some practice sketches of guys, the main character is youthful, shy, optimistic but also naive about things (so far in my mind). Nothing set in stone~ :P

[YEAR 3] Film Idea Draft 1

The things that inspire me most are Animation, Music and Love.
These 3 elements are what I want to have my 3rd year film based around.
My idea is for a music video, a song by Dom Robinson called Bodies (I already have permission from him to animate to this song).

The song to me is about unrequited love, and I want to make a story of someone dreaming about being with a person but never achieving it. Its kinda of inpsired by the idea that you can see the same person in passing for years and years and never even know their name.
The story I have for this song so far, is about a guy who is travelling on a bus, he sees this girl, he thinks she is attractive, they often travel on the same bus but they never spoken. He daydreams about the girl as he looks out the window (this would hopefully happen around the time of the first chorus). He does this many times over and over again, becoming more 'obsessed about her' seeing her in other people and then daydreaming of what could be. By the end of the video he would finally speak to her and it would at that point.

This is still very basic but I really want to keep to this sort of idea.

The style of the theme I want to be sketchy, similar to Glen Keane's Duet and Ryan Woodward's Thought of You. I want most of the focus on the characters, the background would just melt away at points where the guy character is dreaming of what could be.

[BFX] Final Film

I was lucky enough to be part of the BFX Competition 2014, I was on Team No Beards, and we were all from Lincoln University!
The brief was to create a 30 second film based on texts within 7 weeks.
Our Film was based off the Frankenstein text 'I've created a munter'.
I'm very proud of our team for achieving what we did!
WELL DONE NO BEARDS!
